Wellstar Health System has broken ground on a $300 million expansion of Wellstar Paulding Medical Center, a major initiative aimed at meeting the healthcare needs of one of Georgia’s fastest-growing counties.

The expansion will double the hospital’s inpatient capacity from 112 to 224 beds, addressing increasing demand as the community continues to grow. Hospital leaders say the project will improve access to care, reduce crowding, and enhance overall patient experience in the region.

Construction will take place in two phases. Phase 1, scheduled to open in November 2027, will add 56 beds, expand heart and vascular services, and increase imaging and diagnostic capacity. Phase 2, expected to be completed by 2029, will add an additional 56 beds. In parallel, a new $20 million parking deck with over 460 spaces is set to open this November, ensuring convenient access for patients, visitors, and staff.

“This expansion represents Wellstar’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare close to home,” said hospital officials. “Paulding County is growing rapidly, and this investment ensures that our community can continue to receive the care they need, when they need it.”

The project also reflects a strategic effort to strengthen local healthcare infrastructure and offer comprehensive services to residents without requiring them to travel long distances. From expanded cardiovascular services to modernized patient care areas, the hospital’s growth is designed to meet both current and future community health needs.

With construction underway, Wellstar Paulding Medical Center is positioning itself as a central healthcare hub in the region, combining modern facilities with an increased capacity to serve a growing population. The expansion underscores Wellstar’s ongoing dedication to advancing health and wellness in the communities it serves.
