Healthcare provider Texas Health Resources has announced plans to build a new hospital in McKinney, a move aimed at expanding access to care in one of North Texas’ fastest-growing regions.

The planned facility, expected to open in 2028, will be located in north McKinney near U.S. 75 and Laud Howell Parkway and is designed to meet rising healthcare demand across Collin County and surrounding communities. System leaders said the project reflects continued population growth pushing healthcare infrastructure farther into suburban areas.

The hospital will initially include 60 inpatient beds, with the campus intentionally designed for future expansion as patient volumes increase. Officials noted the scalable approach allows the organization to grow services alongside the community rather than building excess capacity upfront.

In addition to inpatient care, the campus will feature a medical office building and a range of specialty services. Plans call for a Women’s Services Center that includes labor and delivery and neonatal intensive care capabilities, bringing higher-acuity maternity care closer to families in the region.

Texas Health leaders emphasized that the project aligns with the system’s broader strategy of improving access by placing care closer to where patients live and work. As residential development continues to accelerate across North Texas, the new hospital is expected to reduce travel times for care while supporting long-term regional healthcare needs.

Construction timelines and additional service details will be finalized as planning progresses.
