Northwestern Medicine and Providence to Pilot New AI-Powered Supply Chain Tool
15 Sep, 2025

Northwestern Medicine, with a network of research hospitals, acute care facilities and academic centers across the Chicago region, and Providence, with 51 hospitals across seven Western states, are the first organizations piloting Mpower, which Medline has been developing since first announcing its collaboration with Microsoft, according to a release

Mpower is a cloud-based, AI-powered “digital control tower” for supply chain resiliency, built on the Microsoft 365 platform

Mpower will integrate inventory data and forecasts from Medline’s existing platform (Mpower Foundations) to identify products at risk of supply chain disruptions. The tool will allow customers to pre-designate clinically acceptable product substitutions, manage approvals, and streamline communications when disruptions occur. The release of Mpower is slated for early 2026. For Medline Prime Vendor customers who are already using Mpower Foundations, Mpower will be available at no additional cost.
