07 Jul, 2025

On June 24, 2025, the state’s first—and only—freestanding comprehensive cancer hospital, the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, officially opened its doors in New Brunswick, according to a release. This 12-story, 520,000 sq ft facility is one of just 13 such cancer hospitals in the U.S.

The Morris Cancer Center anchors RWJBarnabas Health’s $1.5 billion investment to enhance oncology services statewide, fostering seamless integration between research and patient care.

This center features:

  • 96 inpatient beds
  • 80 exam rooms & 88 infusion bays for adults and children
  • Dedicated pediatric area with a “Jersey Shore” theme
  • Advanced radiation oncology, on-site pharmacy, surgical suites
  • 10 research labs to support translational science

Patients no longer need to travel to New York or Philadelphia for comprehensive cancer treatment—everything from precision diagnostics and clinical trials (including cellular therapies) to integrated physician‑scientist care is now available locally.
