Several Louisiana health systems have launched MyChart Central, a statewide initiative designed to give patients a unified experience across multiple healthcare organizations. The platform, powered by Epic, allows patients to use a single Epic ID to access their health information from participating hospitals and clinics throughout the state.

According to Epic, Louisiana is the first state to implement MyChart Central on this scale. The system enables patients to log in once to view test results, schedule appointments, and message care teams at different organizations, without managing multiple accounts or passwords. Updates to personal information, such as addresses or phone numbers, automatically sync across participating systems, reducing duplication and administrative work.

The platform also supports modern authentication methods, including passkeys, facial recognition, and fingerprint login, providing a password-free, secure way for patients to access their accounts. In addition, MyChart Central gives users the ability to share their health data with third-party applications of their choice, supporting interoperability and patient data control in line with federal standards.

Participating Louisiana health systems collaborated to enable this shared access, marking what Epic described as a model for other regions. The company said MyChart Central will expand nationally, allowing patients in other states to connect their MyChart accounts under one Epic ID in the future.

With this launch, Louisiana becomes the first state to offer residents a single, connected MyChart experience across multiple health organizations—a development aimed at simplifying access, improving coordination, and enhancing the digital healthcare experience statewide.
