This month, Intermountain Park City Hospital broke ground on a major addition to its facilities that includes a state-of-the-art cancer center, along with expansion of the emergency department and surgical services.

These additions will help ensure the hospital can continue to meet the needs of a growing population, along with the millions of tourists who visit every year, the health system said.

“We're embarking on a groundbreaking era at Intermountain Park City Hospital that will generationally redefine cancer care along the Wasatch Back,” said Lori Weston, president of Intermountain Park City Hospital. “Research has shown people have better outcomes when they can receive care closer to home and this expansion will help us meet that goal.”

The new Intermountain Health cancer center will span 10,800 square feet and bring vital services like medical oncology, a state-of-the-art linear accelerator for radiation treatment, and 18 infusion bays.

Intermountain Health has significantly expanded its services in the last year, focusing on enhancing access to specialized care across Utah. Here are some key developments:

Expansion of Specialty Clinics

Heber Valley Specialty Clinic: The clinic has tripled in size, adding new providers in ear, nose, and throat care, sleep medicine, and neurosurgery last summer. Additionally, cardiology and pain management services have been relocated from the hospital to the clinic, offering extended hours and new procedures like echocardiograms and stress tests. 

Manti Clinic: This clinic has expanded its services to include OB-GYN care, with certified nurse midwife Elaine Thompson now available every Monday. A full-time OB-GYN, Dr. Brian May, is set to join later this summer. The clinic has also enhanced its telehealth offerings, allowing remote consultations with specialists in gastroenterology and behavioral health. 

New Multi-Specialty and Cancer Center in Saratoga Springs

Intermountain Health has broken ground on a new multi-specialty clinic and cancer center in Saratoga Springs. The facility will offer a wide range of services, including OB-GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, sports medicine, ENT, audiology, urology, cardiology, pediatrics, and gastroenterology. The integrated cancer center will provide chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and support services like oncology social work and nurse navigation. 

Pain Management Clinics

Two comprehensive pain management clinics have been expanded in Utah and Davis Counties. These clinics now offer services such as physical therapy, neurological evaluations, cognitive assessments, and procedures like Botox and Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) programming. The Utah County clinic, located on the campus of Intermountain Utah Valley Hospital, consolidates all services on one floor for better coordination, while the Layton clinic provides specialized care tailored to address the root causes of pain. 

Hyperbaric Services

Intermountain Health's St. George Regional Hospital has expanded its hyperbaric services by adding two new monoplace chambers. These chambers are used for treating conditions like carbon monoxide poisoning, severe wounds, and other medical conditions requiring high-pressure oxygen therapy. 

Digital Health Partnership for Cardiology Care

Intermountain Health has expanded its partnership with Story Health, a digital health company, to improve outcomes for heart patients. Building on a successful pilot program for heart failure patients, the expanded collaboration now includes hypertension management. This partnership aims to optimize medication management and reduce hospitalizations by providing remote monitoring and support, particularly benefiting patients in rural areas or those facing social barriers to frequent clinic visits.
