Community Health Systems is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee. With a net patient revenue of about $9 billion, CHS employs approximately 90,000 people across the country. Community Health Systems affiliates operate 83 acute-care hospitals and more than 1,000 other sites of care, including physician practices, urgent care centers, freestanding emergency departments, occupational medicine clinics, imaging centers, cancer centers and ambulatory surgery centers.

HCA Healthcare 

With 211 hospitals and approximately 2,000 sites of care (surgery centers, freestanding emergency rooms, urgent care centers and physician clinics) in 21 states, HCA Healthcare is the largest IDN in the country. Based out of Nashville, Tennessee, HCA has a total net patient revenue of $42.9 billion and more than 283,000 employees.

Tenet Healthcare 

Tenet Healthcare is a multinational IDN based in Dallas, Texas. Tenet operates 485 ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals, 60 hospitals, and approximately 110 additional outpatient centers and other sites of care. Tenet employs over 100,000 people and has a net patient revenue of $13 billion.

Trinity Health 

Trinity Health was formed in 2000, eventually becoming one of the largest IDNs in the country with a “family” of 115,000 colleagues and nearly 26,000 physicians and clinicians caring for diverse communities in 25 states. Based in Livonia, Michigan, Trinity is a not-for-profit health system with a net patient revenue of about $15 billion. The Trinity Health system includes 88 hospitals, 131 continuing care locations, the largest PACE program in the country, and 125 urgent care locations.
